Today we are going to try to answer one of the questions you guys asked on <a href=”http://www.instagram.com/junkinthetrunkvintagemarket/”>Instagram</a> a few weeks back. The question comes from mrsfirewife she asked:
How do I decorate around a tv when I don’t have a fireplace or mantle?
I currently live in an apartment and am not blessed with a fireplace or mantle either, so I can totally relate to this problem. My personal solution was to put my TV in an armoire. I love how it adds character to my living room, but still allows me to hide the TV when not in use. However that is not a good solution for everyone, so here are a few other ideas.
Something I think can look really nice is creating a gallery wall around your TV. This simple idea can be done numerous ways. You can have a console table or dresser under it, and incorporate the TV into the pictures/art you hang on the wall, as seen here:

Here is another similar version, but they used a shelf to hang the art, giving more depth to the things around the TV. Since the TV is not mounted on the wall, it makes everything feel more cohesive and not appear like the TV is extending out from the wall anymore than the things displayed on the shelf.

Another option instead of a gallery wall, would be to create or use a shelving unit to display the tv and other items.
I am currently loving the style of the pipe and board shelves. You could easily create a wall like this and put your TV on one of the shelves:

Or if you prefer a mounted TV you could create the shelves to go around it like this idea.

Finally a fun idea would be to put a frame around your TV. I realize that the one in this photo is above a fireplace, but I think the same thing could be done on any wall. I love the way the frame looks painted the same color as the wall. It creates quite a statement piece for you wall.
